- [Wifi at the Hall!](https://williamsonhall.org.uk/2022/11/wifi-at-the-hall/): Thanks to grant funding from the PKC Digital Exclusion Fund and a generous donation from Branston Ltd, Williamson Hall now has wifi available for use by hall users. It’s powered by a decent SOGEA fibre connection, and while we can’t promise it’s good enough for multiple users to all stream Netflix at once, at 40+ mpbs it is certainly good enough to allow internet and app access for a number of users, or for business presentations, slideshows, streaming etc. Wifi installation is part of the ongoing improvement works the hall committee are making, to ensure the hall continues to be […]

- [Good to Go - Covid19 Update](https://williamsonhall.org.uk/2021/03/good-to-go-covid19-update/): At Williamson Hall we hold the “Good to Go” hospitality industry standard re Covid19, which means we follow all ScotGov and industry guidelines, have full Covid19 risk assessments, as well as processes in place to maintain cleanliness and aid social distancing. We use professional cleaning products and methods effective against Covid19, have all required signage, contactless hand sanitiser stations at both entry and exit points, cleaning stations for hall users and can provide you with signage and guidance to aid you with setting up any event that complies with the current ScotGov Covid19 restrictions.
- [Hall Improvements](https://williamsonhall.org.uk/2019/09/hall-improvements-3/): Over the summer we’ve undertaken some further improvement works to the hall. The men’s loos has had a much needed refurbishment with new sanitary fixings, new doors, new flooring and wall coverings. We have also replaced the old shower (a grimy 1980’s cubicle accessed through a store cupboard!) with a lovely new shower room accessed from the main corridor. Our shower room was primarily used by residential groups who hire the hall for weekends (Boys Brigade, Scouting, Guiding etc) so we hope it will help attract more of these. - [Revised Hill Race - Sun 1 Sep 2019](https://williamsonhall.org.uk/2019/08/revised-hill-race-sun-1-sep-2019/): Just a reminder that the 2019 Hill Race is due to take place on Sun 1 Sep @ 1pm. We had to cancel the event back in June due to the weather and conditions on the hill but all being well it’s on for next weekend! Our ever popular kid’s disco is back on the Fri evening, with local DJ / dance legend Jack Simpson. The fete itself is Sat 1 June from 1-4pm and we round off the weekend with the traditional village hill race on Sun 2 at 1pm. See you there!

- [Hall Upgrades](https://williamsonhall.org.uk/2019/05/hall-upgrades/): We are pleased to announce that, thanks to a generous grant from the PKC Community Investment Fund and the money we raise at our annual village fete, we are able to undertake further improvement works at the hall this summer. This time it’s the turn of the men’s loos and the shower room. Both will get a well needed refurbishment, with the shower room finally getting it’s own access rather than being tucked away inside our storage room! The overall record was smashed by 8 seconds, and we had new records in the Boy’s 16 & Under and 9 & Under categories. We were also pleased to present a new shield this year in recognition of Colin Morrison (who did so much for the village and the hill race and sadly died last year). For the 3rd year running we are NOT increasing the rates for booking the hall. We’ve had a really good year up at the hall with new front doors fitted, new flooring in the kitchen, ante-room and corridor, new carpet in the old entrance, a new fire alarm and also re-decoration of the ante-room, corridor and both entrances. - [Hall Improvements](https://williamsonhall.org.uk/2017/09/hall-improvements-2/): More small improvements up at the hall: we’ve had the fire alarm system upgraded and a new smart electricity meter installed. No more laying on the floor to read the meter under the shelf! You may also have noticed the improved parking area at the garages / park – we cheekily asked the contractors if they would fill the big pothole on the hall access road and they very kindly went one better, using their left over tar to tarmac up and over it. Thanks very much M&M Road surfacing, it’s much better!

- [Hill Race 2017 - Winning Times](https://williamsonhall.org.uk/2017/06/hill-race-2017-winning-times/): The rain and thunder held off and we had another cracking Hill Race in Abernethy. 75 of you ran up and down Castlelaw in less than 45 minutes, more than half of you were children! This year saw the retirement of Colin Morrison as race organiser extraordinaire, although he couldn’t stay away altogether and was busy marshalling instead. Colin has spent many years (10?) organising the hill race and ensuring it’s success and deserves big thanks for his hard work and dedication. - [Fete Thank You 2017](https://williamsonhall.org.uk/2017/06/fete-thank-you-2017/): A huge big thank you to the community of Abernethy for today! Just finished counting up and the fete raised over £1700 plus the £200 we made at the kid’s disco last night. That’s a fantastic total and will really help towards the running costs and further improvements for the hall. So many of you came along and gave your time to help with gazebos (up and down!), stalls, face painting, teas & kitchen and then the clearing up again afterwards. Things kick off in style with the kid’s fete disco on Friday 2 June, the Fete itself is on Saturday 3 June from1-4pm and the traditional village hill race will be on Sunday 4th. - [Toddler Group Funding - they need your help! Sat 1 April](https://williamsonhall.org.uk/2017/03/toddler-group-funding-they-need-your-help-sat-1-april/): Got plans for Saturday? Fancy a family fun day with face painting, fire engine and an added dollop of community participation?  One of our user groups (Baby & Toddler Group) have applied for funding via the Almond & Earn Action Partnership scheme and decision / voting day is this Saturday. Everyone attending gets a token that they can use to vote for the cause they think is most deserving, so it literally is a case of needing to turn out the numbers to be successful.  They would very much appreciate your support and votes.

- [Hall Improvements](https://williamsonhall.org.uk/2017/01/hall-improvements/): Just before Christmas we treated the hall to a new front door. It may look exactly the same as the last one but it’s brighter, better, weatherproof and crucially not split or with a dodgy lock! It was made bespoke for us by Ally Mallinson, who we would thoroughly recommend. Within the next month we hope to be laying new flooring in the kitchen, ante-room and corridor as well as purchasing some new chairs to replace damaged /missing ones. This year was faster than last and saw the Men’s record, which has stood since 2002, beaten by 3 seconds by Chris Russell. Ella McElnea just missed breaking her own Girls Under 16 record by 2 seconds and Ruairi Mair was just 1 second outside the Boys Under 12 record. - [Bookstravaganza! Fundraising Sale - Sat 30 April 1-4pm](https://williamsonhall.org.uk/2016/03/bookstravaganza-fundraising-sale-sat-30-april-1-4pm/): Abernethy Primary School Parent Council have a huge fundraising book / dvd / games sale on at the hall on Sat 30 April. As well as kid’s activities and a story telling corner for the little ones we are delighted that 5million+ selling local author James Oswald will be coming along to do a meet the author session!   They are actively seeking donations of books, dvds and puzzles/board or electronic games (not toys please) so if you can help out then please get in touch.

We’ve moved the date forward in order not to clash with Newburgh & Glenfarg’s events, the Wee Big Dig (4-6 June) and the Royal Highland Show. We’ve already got some great stalls booked, so mark your calendars and look forward to a great community / family event for a very worthwhile cause. The Robertson Trust have just awarded us a £3000 grant to help pay for the recent electrical work and the forthcoming work to the window surrounds. With this, the Branston donation, and the anticipated proceeds from the fete at the weekend, the hall is back on a good financial footing once again. We now have double glazed hardwood windows, a new accessible (disabled) toilet with a proper baby change facility, fully insulated walls and the main hall has been redecorated and revamped along with new curtains.
