Williamson Hall is the village hall for Abernethy and its surrounds. Run by a voluntary committee as a charity / not for profit community resource, the hall is well maintained and is the perfect warm and welcoming venue for your party, concert, ceilidh, organised youth group sleepover, community or fundraising event. You can find our hire charges here.
Our ongoing refurbishment programme means that over the last few years we have installed a new shower room, a defibrillator and free guest wifi. We are currently working on upgrading our lighting to LED. Longer term plans include relaying our access road, installation of e-charging points and disabled parking as well as a spruce up of the hall exterior. We rely on letting revenues to maintain the hall, with grant funding and fundraising used for upgrades.
You can view our gallery to see more pictures of the hall.
Our facilities:
We have a large main hall with stage, an ante/committee room with an accessible (disabled) toilet, family friendly baby change facilities and a new large shower room. We accommodate most events comfortably (up to a maximum of 100 attendees).
Our modern fully fitted kitchen has a 6 ring hob and double oven, a catering standard dishwasher, an urn, a microwave, a large fridge and a freezer. We have 100+ crockery place settings meaning you can also cater for your event with ease.
We have external CCTV in operation at the hall – you can view our CCTV policy here.
We have free user access to our guest wifi (subject to our terms and conditions).

Charitable Status:
The hall is owned by a registered charity (Williamson Trust – SC003200) and is run by a voluntary management committee as a community resource. Over the years the historic Trust has become disassociated from the community and the running of the hall and so the management committee has just been granted permission by OSCR to constitute as a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (Williamson Community Trust Abernethy (SCIO) – SC054086). We are working with the historic Trust to take formal ownership of the building, plus the Trust’s other remaining assets, in order that we can manage these on behalf of the Community of Abernethy. This will help ensure the Hall’s future and provide the community with an organisation that has the power to maintain, manage and develop its community buildings.
Charges:
Our rates for community groups / individuals start at just £13.00 per hour for weekday hire, £17.00 per hour for weekends before 6pm and £22.00 per hour for Fri, Sat and Sun evenings. We don’t usually charge for set up time. You can view our full charges here.
We are happy to welcome organised youth groups (e.g. Boys /Girls Brigades, Scouting or Guiding groups) to hold overnight indoor camps in the hall. We charge £6 per person per night subject to a minimum fee of £100 per nights stay.
To book the hall please contact our Bookings Secretary Andrea Dewar using the contact page.
